YUSOM & Somali Journalists for Human Rights [SJHR |
![]() YUSOM & SJHR, two local dynamic youth and human rights organizations led by young Somalis who are concerned hereby forward to you our grievances with regard to lack of empowerment by the international community facing the youth and human rights organizations in the country.
Many of the youth and human rights organizations in the country have shrunk and were left ineffective because of multitude of reasons the biggest being lack of empowerment.
In light of the above, we bring to your attention the attached Petition jointly written by two of the handful remaining youth and human rights organizations in Somalia.
Indeed, these kind of organizations are very rare in Somalia, a country that has been in turmoil for nearly three decades now. Hence the need not to discourage them but to enable them continue serve their vulnerable people through funding and equipping them on humanitarian grounds.Kindly find the petition in the attachment and circulate with the relevant organizations, government bodies, overseas development authorities of the developed world, donors, embassies and all well-wishers to come to the rescue of our shrinking human rights and youth initiatives.
It is now, not later you may not spare any assistance to salvage our organizations and initiatives for the benefit our the vulnerable people in Somalia such as women, children, the elderly people, the youth, the disabled people, IDPs and returnees as well as minorities. Any assistance accorded to us will be highly appreciated.
Looking forward to your compassionate and positive reply.
